Official Press Release:

Broken Velcroe Art Carnival: Concert and Art Installation

LOS ANGELES, CA. – July 29th – Multimedia artist/designers Emily Blong & Taylor Shechet have organized the first Broken Velcroe Art Carnival, a magical celebration to be held at Vlad’s the Retailer (4313 Melrose @ Heliotrope, Los Angeles 90029).

Empowered by the will of the plushie gods, Blong has created a life size technicolor fabric diorama of a burning fantasy land, frozen in the final moments before it’s destruction.  The installation, entitled, “The Last Day Of Broken Velcroe Land” is a truly twisted and original fairy tale. A hand-stitched story about a girl who accidentally finds herself in an alternate dimension created by the mantras of the pain-inspired songs she writes. She watches as the curious inhabitants, monsters of her own creation, are murdered by a demon. Horrified after recognizing the demon as herself, she sets the world aflame as an act of "alchemeical" purification.

The event will also feature avant-garde live music performances by the neotenic internet celebrity BUBBLEGUM OCTOPUS, 8-bit cyber metal hero MONOMATE (AKA iamerror),  the anime-inspired epic multimedia project NVR-NDR (Shechet), and plushie pop sensation MY VELCROE (Blong).
Many DIY items will also be available for sale, including Gothic Lolita accessories by My Velcroe and Insidious Clothing.

By presenting a magical dimension of art, these musicians are examples of a new reactionary movement in independent music: The artist as a complete brand.
